This highly rated mid-size UK and international law firm has an excellent new opportunity for an Associate to join their busy and thriving Financial Services / Funds practice in London. Their team's impressive client list represents a cross-section of the investment management industry, from managers, brokers, custodians, fund service providers and operating platforms; to investment vehicles (open- and closed-end funds) such as UCITS, hedge funds, private funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and segregated portfolios. Typical projects will involve advising on relevant FS regulations in the UK and the EU, assisting clients to make investments in various markets around the world, establishing regulated and unregulated funds, and advising on fund-raising options and initiatives, and the use of financial technology to create new platforms for the trading and marketing. The team also regularly serve as counsel to industry associations on a variety of projects, covering legislative and policy matters, and are actively involved in industry developments. They are particularly seeking someone with a practical and proactive approach, and strong problem solving and team working skills, who enjoys working across jurisdictions and welcomes client exposure. Ideally, applicants will have a background, and/or interest, in a range of areas regulated by the FCA and PRA, such as asset management, broking, derivatives trading, payment services, banking, e-money, fintech / crowdfunding, consumer financial services, insurance mediation and/or money laundering. Of these, asset management-related regulatory experience is most essential, while other FS-related or Corporate experience which is not pure Regulatory will also be of value, especially in Funds establishment / documentation. You'll work closely with key partners of this busy team, assisting with large-scale matters, and running your own smaller-scale mandates.
