This major European IP law firm have an excellent opportunity for a part- or fully-qualified Patent Attorney to join their thriving and top-level Chemistry patents practice in London. Their highly-rated team of patent attorneys supports some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and chemical companies and research institutions, helping to protect research on ground-breaking therapeutics and their delivery, as well as exciting technologies in the fields of polymer chemistry, catalysts, batteries, metallurgy, nanotechnology, cleantech, electrochemistry, petrochemicals, cosmetics, surfactants and food chemistry. Their patent work is commercially focused, and mostly contentious in nature, and includes major multi-party oppositions and litigation support, as well as SPCs and associated regulatory issues. To succeed in this role, you'll need to enjoy thinking strategically and working collaboratively, and be passionate about using your technical excellence to deliver a first-class patents service to clients. You should ideally have (i) an excellent academic background, ideally with an emphasis on organic chemistry or pharmaceutical subject matter; (ii) part to full qualification in the UK and EQE exams, through to 3 years of post-qualification experience; (iii) experience in managing a broad spectrum of chemical and/or pharmaceutical patents work, ideally including in drafting, filing and prosecuting EPO and PCT applications; and (iv) an understanding of EPO opposition and appeal procedure (ideally with some experience of contentious oral proceedings).
